The specific flaw exists within the handling of LDAP queries. If a user is logged in to an application with LDAP enabled and a specially crafted request is received, a remote code execution could take place.
Given that a majority of applications on the web today rely on LDAP for authentication, this could potentially result in a full host of remote code execution scenarios.
Affiliate programs, online shops, or even email clients may be at risk, depending on the scenario and usage of LDAP. A fix for the LDAP Remote Code Execution Vulnerability is currently pending in the release of Windows 10 Redstone 4.
