It has been reported that the use of out-of-range pointer offset can lead to unexpected program behavior, crashes and/or security issues. As per the GitHub security advisory, “It has been discovered that out-of-range pointer offset can lead to unexpected program behavior, crashes and/or security issues. As per the GitHub security advisory, “Out-of-range pointer offset is an issue with the code that is executed by a program when a memory address is not in the expected range. Out-of-range pointer offset is a security risk as it can lead to a variety of unexpected crashes and security issues.” It is recommended to upgrade to the latest version. A patch has also been released to address this issue.
