This issue has been fixed in Vim 9.0.0360. After upgrading to Vim 9.0 you may notice that you are receiving the message: "This plugin requires Vim 7 or higher." If you are running Vim prior to Version 7, then you can easily upgrade Vim via the command below. You can install Vim on Windows, Mac, or Linux. You can also install Vim on your Raspberry Pi or any other device that runs a version of Linux. Go to https://github.comReduce and remove the line that starts with “bundle install”. Afterwards, run the command below to upgrade Vim. vim --remote-update-vmap To check if the upgrade was successful, run the command below. If you see the message: “This plugin requires Vim 7 or higher.”, then you have successfully upgraded to the latest version of Vim. vim --remote-update-vmap

Vim 8.0 Upgrade

Vim 8.0 is a significant update for the popular text editor and comes with many new features like new commands, over 120 new syntax highlighting groups, improved syntax, and better performance. The update is available to download from https://www.vim.org/download.html .

The first time you install Vim 8.0 on Windows, the installer will automatically install all of the dependencies that are needed for your system (MSYS2, Mingw-w64). If you want to upgrade Vim 8.0 later on without reinstalling MSYS2 and all of its dependencies, simply run the following command in any folder where MSYS2 is installed:
sudo pacman -Syu vim-runtime extra

Installing Vim on Windows

If you have a Windows machine and want to install Vim, follow these steps:
1. Download the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vim on your computer (https://www.vim.org/download.php?src=win32&version=9.0).
2. Create a directory called MyVimFiles in the location where you downloaded it for easier future access (C:\Users\username\MyVimFiles).
3. Copy vimrc_example to vimrc (C:\Users\username\MyVimFiles\vimrc_example).
4. Open up C:\Users\username\MyVimFiles\vimrc with notepad ++ and make it your own by modifying the settings as necessary for your computer and plugins that you use.
5. Run the following command to install Vim: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vimovo Installer" --install "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vimovo Installer" --runtime-dir="C:\Program Files (x86)\vimovo" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vimovo Installer" --runtime-dir="C:\Program Files (x86)\vimovo"

Install Vim on Fedora Linux

Step 1: Download and install Anaconda
Anaconda is a package manager for Python that makes it easy to install and manage multiple versions of Python on your system. You can download and install Anaconda from https://anaconda.org/download/. This will allow you to easily update your version of Python.
Step 2: Update the version of python in Fedora Linux
If you are running Fedora Linux, then you can update the version of python by running the following command in a terminal: sudo yum update -y python
After updating, run the command below to check if you have upgraded successfully. You should see the message: "This plugin requires Vim 7 or higher." If not, then you will need to try again with another method described above. vim --remote-update-vmap

Install Vim on Mac

Open your Terminal application. Type the following command: brew install vim
This will install Vim on your Mac.
